This sensitivity continues for at least one monthpost surgery and one needs to wear sunglasses or protective goggles.
Why Sunglasses?
On the day of surgery of Lasik, the eyes must be kept in dark, for the whole day. Right after the surgery, dark goggles are given by Lasik center to wear at home and it must be continued continuously for a few days of healing process. These goggles not only protect your eyes from the light that is harmful, but also from protecting the eyes against rubbing during sleep. Not disturbing the eyes must be the most important thing for healing, because Lasik flap can be damaged easily with even smaller disturbance.
How Long?
Now the question is how long the Lasik patient has to wear after the Lasik surgery. It is not the same for all the patients, though usually, one week of time is ideal to ensure that the eyes are enough protected during the healing process and recovery. This duration varies from one patient to another patient, because of various factors that determine the healing and recovery process.
However, in most cases, practically, Lasik patients wear the sunglasses, for the first day and wear only when they go out during day, for a week or more. It depends on the comfort levels of the Lasik patient, who feels comfortable with and without sun glasses. However, it is important to note that do not know, how harsh the external environment would be and how adverse situations may arise to the eyes. So, ideally, feel free and take enough care by wearing the sunglasses after the Lasik surgery and wear the sunglasses at least one month after the Lasik surgery, whenever you go out, during day time.
